It’s not just about the ingredients but how they work in your skin that makes the difference in the result that you get from your products. We roll up our sleeves and stay on the cutting edge of skin-saving research and plant technology so we can deliver products that are more effective and transform skin naturally. You may notice that we have been incorporating more liposomes in our formulas and aren’t sure what they are or what they do. Our goal is to be as transparent as possible with regards to our ingredients and their benefits.
What are Liposomes?
Liposomes are tiny delivery vehicles that are used to transport ingredients into the skin. Liposomes simulate the skin’s structure and pass more easily through the skin barrier to deliver their contents to deeper layers of the skin. Liposomes are among the best known and widely used vesicles in delivery systems for skin care formulations. First used in drug delivery systems, liposomes have become popular in the anti-aging cosmetics industry because they can enhance the performance of skin care formulations due to their ability to be absorbed into the skin. The microspheres have diameters ranging between 25 and 5000 nanometers and are used for delivering vitamins, botanicals, marine lipid extracts, vitamin C, tocopherol, retinol, coenzyme Q10, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, and other active cosmetic ingredients into the skin.
In addition to delivering nutrients to the skin, liposomes also create a hydrating barrier on the surface of the skin.
Who should use skincare products with liposomes?
Products with liposomes are ideal for all skin types and concerns depending on what nutrients are being delivered. Liposomes are particularly useful for those concerned about the signs of aging and looking to both prevent and reverse those signs as well as those with easily irritated or sensitive skin. Products with liposomes are also beneficial for those with dry, dehydrated skin and a dysfunctional dermal barrier because they promote cellular regeneration and repair.
